Steel-cored aluminum stranded wire refers to the reinforced conductor of single-layer or multi-layer aluminum stranded wire stranded outside the galvanized steel core wire. Mainly used in the power and transmission line industries. In the era of modern advanced science and technology, many industrial modern facilities have appeared in our world and exist in our lives. ACSR is also the main force that plays an important role in electric power. It has a steel core inside and an aluminum wire wrapped around the steel core outside. The steel core mainly plays the role of increasing the strength, and the steel core aluminum stranded wire mainly plays the role of transmitting electric energy.
The steel-cored aluminum stranded wire uses bare wire as the conductor, and there is no insulation wrapping on the outside. So why is it used for high voltage power transmission? Isn’t the stability and reliability of power cables relatively high? Let’s talk about the advantages of steel core aluminum stranded wire!
1. Steel core aluminum stranded wire is also an overhead insulated cable. Overhead cables are set up on pylons far from the ground. Compared with underground cables, overhead cables have the advantages of simple structure, convenient erection and maintenance, low line cost, large transmission capacity, and long spanning distance. At the same time, it is conducive to the erection of special geographical locations such as rivers and valleys. It has good electrical conductivity and mechanical strength, so it is widely used in overhead transmission circuits of various voltage levels. However, they are easily affected by external factors, are not safe and beautiful, and are mainly widely used in suburbs far away from cities and less crowded.
2. For high-voltage power transmission, bare wires are generally used. Because the 30mm thick rubber insulation has no effect when the voltage reaches 10kV, it is easy to be broken down by high voltage. Steel core aluminum stranded wire has less investment, simple construction, and convenient maintenance and repair, which are also factors for choosing overhead cables; on the contrary, the budgetary cost of power cables is too high.
3. Due to the low density of aluminum, the steel-cored aluminum stranded wire used for high-voltage power transmission; under the same conditions, the mass of aluminum is less than that of iron, the conductivity of copper is better than that of iron, and the current has a convergence effect in transmission, that is, along the surface of the wire flow.
4. Steel-cored aluminum stranded wire is made of steel wire in the middle and aluminum wire at the outer edge; the reason for using the steel core is that the aluminum has poor strength, soft quality and easy to break. Using a steel core can increase the strength of the wire without compromising conductivity.
